From Humble Beginnings to Community Pillars

Founded in 1959 as Pontiac Employee Federal, STAR Financial Credit Union began with a clear mission: to offer outstanding financial services to the employees of Pontiac Refinery, later known as CITGO Refinery. What started in a modest office on refinery grounds has blossomed into a thriving credit union with two full-service locations and over 3,000 devoted members across Nueces County.

Over the past 65 years, we’ve undergone five name changes, each marking a significant evolution in our services and community reach. Our growth from serving a single employer to embracing a wide array of companies within our membership field highlights our adaptability and commitment to inclusivity.
