At STAR Financial Credit Union, our commitment extends beyond financial services; we are deeply embedded in the life and growth of our community. We actively participate in and sponsor events that enrich our neighborhood, support local businesses, and provide educational opportunities. Here’s how we’re involved:
Upcoming Community Events
- Spooktacular Coloring Contest: Get your crayons, markers, and colored pencils ready – it’s time to show off your creativity! All ages are welcome! Coloring sheets are available at any branch or is available to download below! Submissions are open until October 27th and can be dropped off at any branch or emailed to support@starcu.org. A winner will be selected for both branches and will receive a Halloween bucket full of treats and activities!
- Holly Blood Drive: Join us Wednesday, October 29th from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM for our Holly Branch Blood Drive! All donors will receive a STAR Financial Credit Union water bottle, a donor T-shirt, and a Denny’s coupon. Schedule your appointment by calling us at 361-242-7827! Walk-ins are welcome!
Ongoing Initiatives
- School Partnership Programs: We partner with local schools to provide students with real-world financial education, helping them prepare for a financially sound future.
- Volunteer Days: Our team regularly volunteers at food banks, shelters, and other nonprofit organizations. We encourage all members to join us in making a difference.
Past Events Highlight
- National Credit Union Youth Month: This past April, our members were invited to participate in a coloring contest called Sea of Savings! We had 7 coloring pages submitted, and the winner won an Easter basket full of goodies! Parents that were interested in starting a savings account for their child we able to open a youth account with the $5 opening deposit covered by the Credit Union.
- Beach Day Clean Up: This past July, employees of the Credit Union volunteered to clean North Beach! A total of 5 bags of trash were filled in a matter of an hour! We appreciate our dedicated volunteers who made this event a success!
- McKinzie Branch Blood Drive: This past August, the McKinzie Branch hosted a lifesaving blood drive with the Coastal Bend Blood Center. Three units of blood were collected which is the equivalent of 9 lives saved!
- Texas Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup: This past September, employees of the Credit Union joined the Texas Adopt-A-Beach Fall Coastwide Cleanup at Cole Park! This event was a huge success! We appreciate our dedicated volunteers and those that made this event a success!
