What To Do If Your Information Is Compromised
If you believe your personal information has been exposed:
- Contact STAR Financial Credit Union immediately.
- Change your online banking password and any affected account passwords.
- Monitor your account activity closely.
- Review your credit reports for unauthorized accounts or activity.
- Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the major credit bureaus.

What To Do If You Expect Debit or Credit Card Fraud
If you notice unauthorized card transactions:
- Contact STAR Financial Credit Union immediately.
- Lock or disable your card through our mobile banking tools, if available. You can also report your card Lost/Stolen by contacting:
- Debit Card Center: 800-472-3272
- Credit Card Center: 888-999-3367
- Review recent transactions to identify unauthorized activity.
- Continue monitoring your account until the issue has been resolved.
Prompt reporting helps us investigate suspicious activity and minimize potential losses.
If we detect suspicious activity on your account, our Fraud Department will contact you to verify recent transactions. To help protect your account, some new transactions may be temporarily declined until verification is complete.
Be sure to keep your cell phone, home phone, and other contact information current. If your information changes, update it through STAR Online Banking or call our Member Services Department at 361-242-7827 as soon as possible.
What To Do If You Suspect Check Fraud
If you believe a check has been altered, stolen, or fraudulently used:
- Contact STAR Financial Credit Union immediately.
- Review your account for additional suspicious transactions.
- Consider placing a stop payment if appropriate.
- Report any stolen checks to local law enforcement if necessary.
